Indeed. Perhaps I should call again and ask to be transferred to someone more senior.

Yeah I just did mine too, the Smart Keyboard was a bugger to read because I cant find the box for it. Resorted to slapping my macro lens on the iPhone and taking photo of the serial inside the ASK so I could read it :D

I'm actually genuinely surprised I got the Pencil to register at all. Tiny slightly less shiny numbers on a shiny surface? Daft.

It would be nice if the serial appeared in an accessory section of the About page in Settings.

Would also help me to know if my mysterious keyboard has an incorrect serial etched on it.
 
Update: A Senior Advisor has managed to validate the serial, but no explanation as to why it wasn't originally on the Apple database. Case closed. :p
