I think getting the 9 Core model is a huge mistake. A 1TB 16GB RAM 10 Core M4 is double the price but an entirely different machine. Can anyone really justify buying the 9 Core M4 ? Most people don’t realize 9 Core M4 chips are literally defective chips which deemed acceptable with 1 failed core. I fear that Apple may justify giving exclusive capabilities to the full power 10 Core M4 SKUs same way the Nano texture is only for the 1TB machines. There’s no way an 8GB iPad with a 9 Core M4 with half the RAM could offer the same experience a 10 Core model can.

I will mainly only use my iPad Pro for consumption, Apple Pencil, and light productivity. I also only need 256GB of storage. Why would I spend 60% more (an extra $600!) just to get an extra 1 out of 10 cores, upgraded RAM, and storage - none of which I need or would probably even notice the difference?

If I was really concerned about keeping up with performance, I could just keep that $600, sell the M4 iPad when the next one comes out, and I'd still have more money and probably a considerably more powerful device than the M4 10-core iPad Pro. Not to mention, I would also get all the other upgrades that come from upgrading more frequently that aren't just chip upgrades.

How does an 8-core CPU and 8gb RAM MacBook Air do it then? Another educated post.

News flash: MacOS isn’t coming to iPad.

People thought MacOS was coming to iPad when the M1 iPad Pros released, and it didn’t happen then either.

What do you have to look forward to? A.I., and even then, it’ll probably be more minimal than some are expecting.

A 10-core iPad Pro won't run macOS either. Anyway, binning is done all the time.

This. If the 9 core M4 is a “defective chip” then so are 25% or more of all CPUs and GPUs that are currently running (just fine I might add) in machines around the world.

Sounds like someone just learned about binning and isn’t handling it well.
