90 day mac phone-support trial period

Does this apply for a refurbished MacBook Pro.

I bought one for my wife - but without apple care.

There are some questions i'm stumped on & I'd like to try them out

If this applies to the refurbished MBP

how do I contact them
is there any information that I need to know
I bought the computer but registered it under her name (since I have my own MBP)

Yes, warranty options are the same for both refurbished and newly purchased macs. 90 day phone support and 1yr hardware warranty. AppleCare can be purchased to extend complimentary warranty to 3 years. You can contact AppleCare using the number for your country from this list:

I believe refurbished products are covered under the normal apple warranty (so yes you have the 90 day phone support). You will need the serial number for the computer. The phone number is 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273).

The phone support is for 90 days. If you call them and are out of the 90 days, they will take a $49 deposit. If it turns out that it is a hardware problem needing repair, the $49 will be refunded. Getting the extended warrenty extends both phone and hardware support for 3 years from purchase.
