There is a 2.8GHz i7 coming in either late 2010 or early 2011 according to MacRumors...

There was talk about the Arrandales coming out in November too. I doubt the next ones wont come out until they have Sandy Bridge processors.

Even if a new i7 came out, 2.66 to 2.8 Ghz isnt a big difference. Not a reason to wait to buy a new MBP;) imo

The only thing announced at WWDC will be iPhone and related accessories.

yes....yes I did. I was just curious as to the thoughts of others. I don't expect any new hardware but I would hate to order now and SJ announce a price cut at WWDC.

Apple announcing a price cut. LOLz. Pass the doobie.

Heh, There is no way Apple refreshes the laptop line next week. It seems that WWDC has become the iPhone developers conference. If new Macs are announced maybe the MacPros. It would seem that this is going to be a big iPhone geared event.

With the iPad and the MBP as thin as it is now is there really a need for the air anymore.

That is a good question and we will see what Steve thinks about that based on whether there is an update or not...
I have friends that refuse to buy an iPad because of the glass keyboard (they know that you can connect a bluetooth keyboard but that is cumbersome and defeats the purpose of a very thin ultra light MacBook)...
Personally, I like the form factor of the Air, but the price is just too high IMO for a "travel Only" computer...
It'll be interesting to see what Apple decides to do with this product now that the iPad is here...

iPad isn't a laptop. Some people still need one of those to run real apps and the MBP is still thick compared to an Air.

To the OP I'd say just wait another week. There might not be a new MBP but maybe there is something else you'd want to spend money on lol

If the air comes back it has to be drastically cut in price. Right now they are undercutting its market with a cheap iPad and a more powerful MBP with a thinner design. Why spend $2000 for the air if it is underpowered.

I concur...a $999.00 MacBook Air might do well, but the $1500.00+ plus price point seems a bit rich for such a niche product...
