Selling phone tonight...need help! to prepare

ok, so selling 3gs tonight ive read al the posts about the best way to prepare.. cant I simply erase my email, notes etc and then give it to him..

when he syncs i know it will erase the apps pics etc but will iterase the baseband unlock and hte jb itself?

Or should i restore to 3.1.2 an re jb/reunlock and then make sure i dont restore from backup then whne he syncs even though it has cydia on it alreayd it will still be a new phoen according to his itunes whne he syncs?

What is the deal wiht my baseband...im sitll on 07 something... if i just do a restore from my saved 3.1.2 on pc that wont affect my baseband since i never upgraded.... so am i good?

Download 3.1.2 FW from the Internet (NOT from iTunes obviously) and Shift+Restore the 3GS. Then set it up as a new iPhone and give it to your buddy, or if you're feeling generous you can do the Spirit jailbreak. Then download Redsn0w 0.9.5 from Cydia and unlock it. Hope this helps :)
 
Fast.....will itunes still let me do a custom restore to 3.1.2? I thought it was signing signatures for 3.1.2 anymore? Id love to be wrong on that one though...I can still use blackrain to do the unlock correct?

Nope, it won't let u restore to anything but the new 4.0 unless you have your shshs saved from previous builds.
That's has nothing to do with the version of iTunes. It's always been like that for the 3GS.

Ps. Also to the user fast/furious, don't give advice to people when your not 100% on what your posting. U put up alot of false assumptions above.

Thats the problem, I have a few shshs but dont know how to go about using them...so itunes would pick up that im trying t od oa 3.1.2...what if im on 3.1.2 how does itunes check to see that its not the most recent... waht if its a reinstall of the os on it...how does it know?
 
damn i dont know how to do that but ive heard its an extensive process I know ive had 3.0 and up so far though

ok so on mac i option+ restore(itunes 9.02) and it says it will verify the restore with apple. does this mean it will force me to update? i need to restore to a clean phone bc im selling tomorrow and he needs it unlocked. im on 3.1.2 firmware 05.11.07 modem firmware. please help meeeee

Ok, you're good then.
Download the official 3.1.2 IPSW from here:

Then edit your hosts file before trying to restore to the 3.1.2
Follow this for Mac: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7556

Then Shift and select restore if you're on windows or Option and click restore on itunes if you're on Mac.

After everything goes thru and you're restored to official 3.1.2 let it activate thru itunes with your sim inside the phone and then run blackrain to JB and unlock.

Apple... im just trying to go from 3.1.2 to 3.1.2 tough.... it says i haveto have down a later or earlier jailbrake or something

also, im having trouble saving the file it always says path is not correct i end up getting it to wokr and naming it eh correct thing "hosts" but so far no good.

Nevermind.... i didn't open file through notepad, just right clicked.... still not working though but it allowed me to save file correctly.

damn damn dman...that stupid ::1 localhost, that was the problem apparetnly had to take it out...it was there when i opened it... works now....

THANK YOU... ok, while this is restoring one more quesiton...at what point do i have to stop this process so it doesnt try and be "my" phone agian...

i just make sure to go as new phone and not backup restore right? If I go as new and then unsync and then jb/unlock will it work when he puts in his as his new phone?

Finally, slowly but surely making progress :D

Dont stop any process. Once everything is done it will ask you if you want to restore from backup or setup as new.
Select new.
Then after it activates with your official sim inside close itunes and then run blackrain.
Thats it.
After you JB with blackrain select the blackrain icon to install cydia and install blacksnow. Then the phone will work with any simcard.
 
What is the best process to remove all my personal info/themes and apps from both the Jailbroken community and the App Store? I need to keep my 3GS Jailbroken and Unlocked to get top dollar.

Do I do a complete restore then re-jailbrake and unlock?

Yes, follow the posts I made above.
If you dont have your SHSH's you wont be able to restore to anything but 4.0
Or wait a few more days and you can update your phone, JB and unlock to the latest 4.0 firmaware.
 
damn blackra1n not working asking for all these dll files downloading them all but it keeps askingfor more damn stopped working at icuuc36.dll

other ideas?

****. it was acting the same on my computer.
I had to plug it in to another laptop in order for it work. It was giving me the same DDL file missing BS.
Try some of these solutions below:
