13" MBP Graphics Glitch

So far this has happened twice to me, once while playing CS:S, and once today while playing TF2. You can kinda see the weird shapes that appeared on my screen in my picture, except in game they covered the entire screen. Is this maybe the GPU overheating? (I added the red circles afterwards btw)

Could it be a problem with geektool?

Almost 70 views and nobody knows? Should I bring it in to the Genius Bar?
 
They look like artifacts to me, there is nothing wrong with your LCD panel but I think your GPU might suffer from heat so I would bring it in to let them test it.

*update*
Play some more games and see if they start to show up after a while.
Or do a stress test with another program.

I was worried about that. The closest Apple store is 1.5hr away so I'll probably hold off on testing it until I know when I'll be venturing down in that direction. I played some more TF2 and everything was fine.

turn down some of the settings in game. have you never had this happen when gaming with a windows laptop/desktop?
 
I have the mid 2010 13". Specs in my sig.

I have the settings turned on as low as they can go at the lowest res (because that's all that playable on OSX :() In Bootcamp I can almost max both games without any problems.
 
I'm not sure how to check the GPU temp, but the same kinda thing would happen if I OCed my desktop GPU too much, so I wouldn't be suprised if it was overheating.

Can I get it sorted out with Apple over the phone? What would the process be? I'd rather not have to go a week without a computer
 
Yes, I have the same problem on my 2010 MBP 13". No idea how to fix it except keeping it cool though.

Is there any way to mail Apple? I feel stuff like this is easier to explain with pictures than over the phone.

Mine looks almost exactly the same, flickers when I move windows or anything is animating.

hey guys,

im having the same problem... happens when i play css and I think it happened once will watching videos and using the web cam....

check the screenshots.. A restart of the computer does fix the problem.... for how long. who knows.? If someone goes to Apple let us know what they say!! Thanks in advance.. and good luck everybody.
 
artifacts are caused by defective gpus, overheating gpus, and bad video memory.

I would for sure get that checked out! Duplicate the problem if need be for them. Take a video, whatever.
 
I haven't gamed on OSX lately and I haven't had the problem in Bootcamp.

Can anyone tell me the process that goes into getting a replacement? I still have the 90 day phone coverage and 1 year warranty
 
memory or video issue,

i have seen alot of these being caused by memory acutally, because the video shares with system memory the problems are apparent in the video via artifacts and other crazy video problems.

taking it in is almost the only thing you can do unless you have aftermarket memory in.

You started this thread over 2 weeks ago and you still haven't taken it in to Apple to have it looked at? They will tell you if you can get a replacement or not? Chances are if you're past the 14 return period from your original purchase it will be repaired. How much longer do you need to keep the thread going, just take it in to the Genius Bar.
 
If you have the 1 year warranty, why not take it to Apple! Its not like there gonna charge you and the problem, more than likely, will get resolved.:confused:

Well the nearest Apple store is 2 hours away, and as much as I'd love the peace of mind, I would hate to drive for 2 hours there and back if there a. isn't a problem, or b. I didn't make an appointment or something else that's needed
