EDIT: I now have unlimited :) Will tethering work even though at&t will try and charge for it?

What kind of apps are so amazing that you should do it?

EDIT: Is there a jb app that would allow me to save login info for my uni's wifi network? It's the kind of thing where you load a page on safari and are redirected, not a direct pass on accessing the network. So I have to enter it every time...a jb would be worth it it to fix this.

Besides tethering (I'm on 2gb/month), what are some reasons to JB the iphone 4?

and a bunch of apps to fix stupid **** about iOS 4 (such as the fact that quick launch fills up with EVERY app on your phone, etc).

There's plenty of reasons.

SB Settings allows you to toggle wifi, 3g, location services, adjust brightness, view and end processes, from any screen, which is very nice. Also, Safari download plugin and iFile are good to have. 3g unrestrictor will allow for Facetime/Netflix/Skype to run over 3g. Also tethering...

well, for one...after jailbreak you will be able to make facetime calls all the time with my3g. It makes your phone think it's always on wifi. :) i love that app and mywi!

What is Apple's reason for not allowing Winterboard? Too buggy? There are many programs in the App Store that will cause a crash. Perhaps the program goes into areas where Apple does not allow? If I could have a Winterboard like app I might not jailbreak and settle for 2G per month plan. But iAwesome in winterboard is just too awesome to leave off of my iPhone 4.

There's no way Apple would ever approve a "Theming" app for the iPhone - especially with Steve Jobs heading up Apple. The iPhone and it's OS is his baby. He's never going to let it happen.

It also probably uses a ton of private APIs as well.

Other than the given tethering and winterboard:

- Notifier - it was HUGE for me, letting me know when I have a text or e-mail when I'm on other screens... not being on the home screen all the time but having a reminder was key
- SBSettings - easy access to Wi-fi and bluetooth toggles made it so much easier
- Activator - shortcuts to access certain apps, such as swiping the status bar or shaking the phone to activate camera, e-mail, or text, was such a convenience

Since we're still not sure how Apple will limit the new hardware, it's hard to say what other new benefits we can expect from jailbreaking.

For example, will Apple monopolize front-facing video camera for FaceTime only? If so, jailbreak will open the door for many other usage.

But shoosh...I cannot wait for the new JB!

In order of usefulness for me

I would think that Apple would sell themes in the iPhone store. Seems like many that jailbreak do so for the themes, and I can't figure out why apple wouldn't want to make $$$$ on these.

Anyone else have reasons why they would not?
