From today's Apple earnings call: "Latest survey from 451 research indicates iPhone customer sat of 98% for iPhone 12 family."

As a rough guess reading here, 80% of posters on MacRumors are unhappy with their iPhone 12. Size, cost, PWM, yellow screen, battery life, 5G, raised blacks, stuttering, and heat all appear to be competing major reasons to return them, not buy them, disparage Apple, or switch to Android.

"The launch of the new iPhone 12 models that have all-OLED displays, edge-to-edge designs, 5G connectivity, and significant camera improvements, drove an increase in both switchers and upgraders year over year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said during today's earnings call covering the first fiscal quarter of 2021."

Both quotes are more relevant to me than the content in most threads. Very happy Mini owner who upgraded from 6S.

Me, still happy with my 7 32GB since day one.
And ready to upgrade to 12 PM.

MacRumors isn't normal.

True that but most forums of this kind catering to an enthusiast crowd aren’t representative of the majority of customers.

Forums attract certain aspects of a product and often times they are negative or about improving what’s out there already.

I agree. The trick (so to speak) is being able to sift through the hyperbole and fluff until you find informative posts from members helping one another with a friendly side of forum mocking to go.

Except for initial yellow screen on mine and 4 models have me second guess my choice (especially for the money I paid and time I expect to keep it) the 12 pro I have is objectively flawless.

Macrumours posters aren't really representative of reality. Most people here are tech hobbyists who upgrade annually and will find any excuse to nitpick, where as the average person where I live still owns the iphone 7.

There is one Macrumors poster who represents reality, in addition to good taste, pleasing personality, rugged sex appeal, and sound political judgement. Modesty forbids me to identify that most excellent individual.

If you have ever developed or been involved in polling, you realize how little it really means except to extrapolate generalities. Most polling. Polls are great as a low cost method and give great emotional feedback.

Personally, I like my 12 ProMax.
iOS on the other hand could do with some improvement.

Exactly this. The hardware is great across-the-board in my opinion. Software is crap across-the-board in my opinion. So many issues with every single device that I’ve got and not one feature works 100% reliably... and I mean basic things like email sync on the watch. The built-in altimeter on the series 6. The iPhone home app not being refreshed correctly to reflect status of HomeKit devices. To name but a few. All long-standing and basic things which should by now be working 100% reliably. And all documented issues which Apple still have not solved.

This thread is serious catnip for the "Apple does no wrong" crowd around here..
That’s what I like about this forum - I haven’t seen much 'fanboyism' here... Of course the users who are the most unsatisfied are going to be the most vocal ones. Having been an active part of the mobile tech community for over 2 decades (admin, moderator, coder, writer, software translator and tester, and hardware tester), I know not to expect anything near perfection, but my iPhone 12 mini is the best, or least worse if you prefer, phone on the market right now, for me personally. I have no major complaints. That said, I’d still be using BlackBerry OS10 if it weren’t for the fact that it’s dead and buried now due to the lack of third party developer support. It had the simplicity of iOS combined with a decent control of the OS (built-in file manager etc.).
