It looks like Cydia is pushing its own PDF exploit fix.

I saw it on both Cydia and Rock.

Find it amusing that Cydia can fix it with a 5k fix and Apple take a 579 MB firmware update.

Weird, i don't have that update under changes in Cydia.
Yeah I don't have it either, it could be for the ones that didn't install the fix before? maybe
If it doesn't appear in the Changes section, then all you have to do is search for it.

Probably doesn't appear in Changes depending what option you selected under > Manage >Settings > Who Are You?

How is this different from the previously released PDF Notifier patch?
The previous one was a warning. This new one is a fix.

Big Boss has PDF Warner basically warns you if somebody uses the exploit.

Saurik has PDF Patch does what it says patches the exploit big difference.

Apple only reason for releasing 4..0.2 is to fix Comex exploit and they are not even helping 1G and 2G owners leaving the exploit totally open to them. or a potential security hole as they say. not cool Apple!

I just found it under Changes in Cydia. It even uninstalls the PDF Warner patch when it installs this one. Nice touch from Saurik.

If I'm not mistaken apples has the whole os with it. I'd say the cydia version is just the patch itself. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct, I think his point is why did apple have the need to seed the whole FW when they just could have released a patch.

They usually do the whole FW I think for stability issues, and also I guess they want to wipe out as many "casual" jailbreakers as they can.

You are correct... and from what I can gather the only thing apple's 4.0.2 update did was to fix the exploit. I was being cynical in my comment above.

is this something that is for sure recommended you install? what will it do and if done, can you reuse jailbreakme.com if you have to restore?

I'd agree with you 100%! if they just did the patch then they might give the idea that they support jailbreaking! Lol

If you have SHSH saved and you restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 then you can reuse jailbreakme.com and then reinstall the patch again.
