Best deal for 8GB RAM upgrade for my new MBP 15" 2.66GHz i7? $360 seems a little steep, so I opted to order aftermarket... Any suggestions?
OWC is not the best deal. It just the same three letters that get regurgitated on this forum. NewEgg is where its at.

Has anyone used this brand of memory in their i7 MBP? One review says that it worked on their iMac i7 and others on their 13" but I didn't see any for the i5/i7 model.
Thats the wrong memory for a MacBook Pro. You need PC3 8500 with 7-7-7-20 timings. The RAM in post #6 is what you need.
That works with MBP just fine. Intel chipsets aren't as picky as NVidia chipsets when it comes to timings and other minor details.
Seriously, www.crucial.com. I maxed-out my machine for under $100.
I am guessing you have an older model...because 8GB DDR3 from Crucial is $280 vs the $185 from Newegg.

Bought on August 22, just got this delivered today, August 24! Installed in 10 minutes via the instructions on Apple's site. Straightforward, but those tiny screws are a bitch!
This memory works fine in my 2010 17" MBP i7 unibody.
ordered the ram and a new hdd also..
i'm wondering about the screws on the back of the back of the mbp unibody..do you need a special screwdriver to get them out? i remember reading something like a torx #6 or something like that? if so, where can i get one?
