Best deal for 8GB RAM upgrade for my new MBP 15" 2.66GHz i7? $360 seems a little steep, so I opted to order aftermarket... Any suggestions?

I bought mine through NewEgg. I've purchased many items from them over the years and they have always been great!

I'm gonna give the Gskill memory a try. I used it in my Dell and it worked just fine.I've had two bad batches of NuRam now. So wanna try something different.

Well, I wasn't going to upgrade to 8GB, but after seeing this price, this memory is going in my 17" MBP i7 ASAP!

Personally I just went through Crucial when I upgraded my MB to 4GB. It seems to work just fine, haven't had any problems with it to date. Great stuff for a great price :)

Thats the wrong memory for a MacBook Pro. You need PC3 8500 with 7-7-7-20 timings. The RAM in post #6 is what you need.

That works with MBP just fine. Intel chipsets aren't as picky as NVidia chipsets when it comes to timings and other minor details.

Any UK/european decent deals? Failing that, I don't have a newegg account, what are the shipping rates generally?

I'm looking at the g-skill 8gb deal from newegg.com also..

there's no difference in the quality from the g-skill vs say owc, crucial, etc.?

essentially, the ram can be considered the same as long as the specs match up?

I spent $1200 on a mbp..the last thing I want to do is to put trash ram in it that could botch me up completely and have wasted that $200 when I could've spent a little bit more on a better, more reliable brand, etc, etc...

can anyone shed some light on this? thanks!

Bought on August 22, just got this delivered today, August 24! Installed in 10 minutes via the instructions on Apple's site. Straightforward, but those tiny screws are a bitch!

This memory works fine in my 2010 17" MBP i7 unibody.

ordered the ram and a new hdd also..

i'm wondering about the screws on the back of the back of the mbp unibody..do you need a special screwdriver to get them out? i remember reading something like a torx #6 or something like that? if so, where can i get one?

I just used a very small Phillips head screwdriver I had around the house. I'm sure any hardware store would have it

bought the 4GB sticks separately and they work just fine (my review should be on there as well) in my mbp.

You just need a phillips for the bottom plate. To get the HDD out you need a Torx but not for the RAM.

I just ordered the G. SKILL RAM from Newegg, hopefully I get it by Friday!
