They might as well just wait till Macworld and release a 3G iphone that does MMS and has 16/32GB flash memory on board. November?

Can you imagine if that happened, how unhappy would all those Americans be that complained about the dropping of the price a few weeks ago? I can image queues as long as there were at the iPhone launch with early adopters demaning Apple swap out their devices.

They shouldn't be complaining....they would've had a whole 6 months playing with the iPhone before we even got to sniff. If they want the new ones they can swap their 100 dollar credit for it and lock themselves down for another 24 months. Win-win situation :p

O2 to change data tariffs in next 2 weeks!!

Not sure if this has been posted by someone else but i had a conversation with someone at o2 this morning while trying to sort out my OUTRAGOUSLY high mobile bill (mostly due to the amount of data i used, £70+ in less than 20 days, rip off or what!!)

The girl on the phone stated that i should wait till the end of the month to change my tariff as they where releasing some brand new data tarrifs at the end of September. Didn't really catch the exact details but it was something similar to 3gig for £7.50.

To me this seems like they are getting ready for the iminant release of the iphone, early October maybe???

If this is old news then so be it, just thought i would share it just incase, after all there's no harm done!!

:apple: :) :apple:

I really hope the iPhone will be realesed. Im just wondering as I already have a £35 a month contract with 02 already for 6 months if they would let me go over to the iPhone plan? Anyone else got any experience with this kind of stuff?

A friend of mine on O2 said that when he spoke to O2 that if you regulaly spend more than £50 a month on your bill then they may let you upgrade early. I would give them a ring and see what they say.

Well i have just checked online and apparntly its £40 and over, just under the thresh hold but my bills always come out at about £40 a month because of the high data costs! Might have to give it a go, but I am already on 02 so maybe they might just let me switch?

I was under the impression that since the iPhone is not allowed to be subsidised, you can get an upgrade (or not) on your contract and get the iPhone whenever you want - it just starts a new 24 month contract. I think that's what people in the states have done, got an upgrade then bought an iPhone and activated it on their account and then selling the other new handset.

This is one of the things I'm really interested in though, I'm due an upgrade in about a month. If I can get an iPhone *and* an upgrade then I'd be one happy chappy. I'd be ok having to wait a few weeks for the upgrade if need be before I buy an iPhone. My girlfriend's phone has just died and she needs a new one but her contract isn't up for renewal until Easter next year.

I think you're right. The 8Gb iPhone is the same price as the 16Gb iPod Touch in the States - there's no reason to think it will be any different in the UK, giving a price of £269 for the UK iPhone.

My guess is the contract will be a minimum of £35/month for 18 or maybe 24 months.

I hate to say "I told you so", but....

I told you so! :p:D

where is the "EDGE"

Hi Hoping this forum is still active, i notice that the last post was a little while ago.

I am at the end of a T-Mobile contract, and considering switching to 02 to get the I phone.

On doing some enquiries, i note that the handset requires EDGE and wi fi to connect to the internet. I consulted the coverage map on the 02 website, and lo and behold the map does not inform if EDGE is available or not.

Does anyone know where to find a map detailing EDGE coverage.

thanks

Tyco 10

because edge coverage is pretty poor, no map is published:

the iPhone can also get internet via GPRS (only its even slower than EDGE!!)
but the advantage of this is, where you have normal phone signal, you can go on the internet (slowly) or better yet, still get emails, and use google maps!!!
