Better OS and what you can do.

I wouldn't say it's BETTER, I'd say neither of them are better then the other as they all come with cracks.

But I will admit AFTER you're done setting up your phone on Android it is a refreshing change.

Google and Samsung today officially announced the Nexus S. The Nexus S will become the next officially-sanctioned developer platform for Android coders. It is based on Samsung's Galaxy S line of Android devices, and is the first to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Nexus S has a four-inch Super AMOLED "Contour Display" that Samsung says has a more ergonomic feel in the hand. Other features include a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor; 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, 720p HD video capture, and user-facing VGA camera; 16GB of built-in storage; GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR radios; and a gyroscope, accelerometer and digital compass.

The Nexus S is the first Android device to launch with built-in near-field communications, which will allow it to make contactless payments are properly equipped retail locations. Samsung and Google called Android 2.3 Gingerbread the fastest version of Android yet, and note that it now includes a redesigned user interface, an improved keyboard that supports multi-touch gestures, and VoIP-based internet calling. The Nexus S will be available unlocked in Best Buy stores starting December 16. The first variant available supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and 900/1700/2100MHz HSDPA at 7.2Mbps.

It is compatible with T-Mobile's 3G network. It will cost $529 unlocked or $199 with a new T-Mobile contract.

Whew, don't hurt yourself elaborating or anything.

Whats to say that hasnt been mentioned a hundred times already? The OS (Apple) has had a 2 year headstart and Androids is catching up and will surpass Apples here shortly. Gingerbread comes out middle of this month.

What else do you want to hear? Better build quality? I dont know what the next ones wil have but i do know glass on both sides is a china doll for Apple. Android already has everrything plus some on what Apple has otherwise plus being able to change your own battery and add more storage and swype blows away anything iPhone has.

Loved my iPhone but my Android i like more.

Unless you have specifics in mind this is nothing but empty regurgitated rhetoric.

OK, then.....Apparently you have missed the many past threads on this.

No, I've been in them where people can actually articulate their own complaints rather than just continue the empty rhetoric.

Yes Android has its strengths and weaknesses as does iOS.

That said, without any criteria to describe what either would surpass the other in its all just dribble.

You could have said something about notifications at the very least.

LauncherPro's lag was when tapping the icons at the bottom, took a few seconds to open. Scrolling the app drawer, switching screens. All had 1-2s lag or a little less then that, but it was noticeable.

One to two seconds does sound unbelievably slow.

Now you got me so curious, I bought a Galaxy S tonight off eBay to try out. (I've been getting various Android devices to test for an upcoming project, and frankly have been finding out that the whole "fragmentation" thing for apps is, in reality, mostly confined to accounting for cpu speed diffs, and a few launcher-specific live wallpaper glitches.)

But my texts aren't 5 hours off

Sounds like a bad time setting on someone's device, using GMT instead of EST, for example.

...and I don't have to install a crapload of 3rd party apps to do what the phone should do by itself.

Our iOS alarms were off by an hour because of a DST bug, and we're actually unable to install a lot of third party apps to do what a smartphone should do all by itself.... unless we jailbreak.

Seriously? If you have been to those threads then you already know the notifications are already better on Android. We already know the customizations blow iPhone away as well. I dont need to rehash that stuff and what i want to avoid. I dont need to do a bash on the iPhone because it is a good device and i liked mine. I just like what Android is doing more.

The biggest complaint on Android is it being buggy and some saying it isnt smooth. Actually i think my touchscreen is more responsive and smooth than my iPhone...though i dont have the iP4.
And what im saying is the coming OS for Android wil have a whole new UI and be faster and smoother than previous ones.

2.2 is smoother and faster than 2.1 and Gingerbread is supposed to be a big change from 2.2
Android has FFC and it does it so you dont have to be just on wifi. Overall i think Android is right on iPhones heels with their OS and will surpass it early real soon while iPhone wont even get a new phone til July with its biggest OS upgrade. So i dont need to go into a whole speel about what you think i should say. Its been said already and you just want me to repeat it.
Go read the link i posted above. It says a thing or two about Gingerbread but it dont give out the whole change log.
