This is BUGGY.

Not all of my album artwork is showing up.

Some albums that should have been matched, and yes, meet all of the required criteria weren't....all I get is a cloud icon with an exclaimation point

That means there was an error of some sort. So you have to click the tracks and try to get it to match again. And again. Because obviously if there was some kind of random matching error, you wouldn't want iTunes to try again without just sitting there with an "!" graphic, would you? That would be too easy.

Are you just missing artwork on your iPhone/iPod/iPad? Apparently iCloud music that isn't downloaded to your device doesn't have the artwork at first. Over time I think it downloads more artwork, and I know it does when you download the album.

As long as the artwork is there in iTunes, you should be fine.

Am located in Australia and have both an Australian and US iTunes Store account. I was successfully able to log into my US iTunes account from Oz and am matching music as we speak.

Seems it is US iTunes account based only but you can be anywere in the world.:)

Cool to know. I'm in Taiwan with a USA iTunes account. I recently ordered a MacBook pro. Once it arrives I may try out the match from my Mac mini and download stuff as I need it to my MacBook pro. Nice way to have a music backup.

Does anyone know how the matching works with tracks purchased from multiple iTunes accounts that reside in the same library? I have some albums in my iTunes library that were purchased from my wife's iTunes account. Will these both count as purchased (and not towards the 25k limit)??

Over the years since iTunes first came out I have always had an iPod. Since then I have purchased 1,551 songs and they have always been in the Purchased playlist.

I have close to 16k songs in mixture from CD rips, iTunes purchases, to concert Bootlegs, mainly WSP. I have gone through and replaced the "matched" the higher bit rate files.

In regards to iTunes purchases, iTunes match, and iCloud status I have encountered the one stagnating problem:

1. 454 of the iTunes purchased songs are showing as Matched. 1035 are showing Purchased, and 58 are showing as Uploaded (most still with DRM). Moreover, combinations of each lie within various albums.

iTunes match is supposed to not count all purchases towards the quota so what about the 502 songs that I know I purchased not showing up?

Any explanations?????

Multiple iTunes accounts doesn't matter. They still get treated as if there is only one account and they are matched if available.

I would honestly want to know what the trade off is for Apple with the music companies that would allow them to pull off something like this?

Perhaps I'm being paranoid but the music business has always been about greed I have a hard time believing that $25/yr was a great justification for the music industry to allow this.

The artwork shows up in iTunes, but not on my iPhone even after downloading it to my device.

Can you please insist they revise their "clear explanation" regarding music videos, which DO NOT WORK/ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ICLOUD, despite their claims to the contrary.

On my device it looks like it should work on wifi but not over 3G. Is that not accurate (don't have a wifi network to connect to at the moment)?

Question

I'm going to my dad's house in December. Will I be able to access all of the music I just matched in iCloud on his personal computer (assuming I sign into my Apple ID).

Wouldn't that, in theory, give my dad access to all of my music in my library? Couldn't you just download the music to his computer and call it a day? What's to stop Apple from rampant piracy at this point? Is there something I'm missing? Since the music is DRM free, I don't see how Apple is protecting themselves from someone taking their library and loading it onto many other computers of people they know....

it relies on your itunes account, which can be shared on a range of devices..

k, SO i just registered to ask those two questions

1.what happens if some of your songs are from illegal sites (even new ones) !?
2.what happens if you didn't pay for the next year !!?

If my entire music library fits in my 64GB iPhone 4S and iPad 2 with room to spare, is there any purpose to having Match? Stupid question, I know, but just trying to justify it:) I use my iPhone for music every time I get in the car, and don't want t have to wait for music to download to listen to it, if indeed that's how it works.

iCloud is a glorified sync service. If you are not syncing your iPhone with other devices, you really don't need iCloud, right?

Anal-retentive is a psychological term coined by Freud. People can be orally fixated or anally fixated. They can be incorporative or retentive, giving you four combinations. A person is said to be anal-retentive if they have a fixation on order, cleanliness and stability. It is not an insult, nor does it have any sexual connotation.

Clinically it has a specific meaning. As commonly used, it is an insult or at least has a negative connotation.

Not sure if it's already been asked, but what if I have a Japanese version of a cd with extra tracks not available on iTunes in my country (UK), or a cd that was purchased in a different country with a different tracklisting than what iTunes offers? Will the iTunes version of the album that is available in my country be offered, the album from Japanese iTunes, or just the tracks on the album that match my already owned mp3's?

Examples off the top of my head:

Sneaker Pimps 'Becoming X', I have the initial pressing with some of the tracks mixed differently to the re-released pressing.

Bjork 'Debut', my initial pressing didn't include Play Dead.

Elastica s/t, I have the US version with the playlist in a different order and with a bonus track to the UK version.

Lost Prophets 'Thefakesoundofprogress', my initial pressing was withdrawn and replaced with a much shorter remastered version.

Also, what if you have an original version of an album, but iTunes only sells the remastered version, do you get the remastered version?

On Apple's website it says, I think, that 10 devices are allowed access. The details would be good to know.

One thing I'm not 100% clear on is does the iDevice automatically manage free space? In the sense that if I have 40MB free on my iPhone and I listen to an album from the cloud (so it downloads it). If I go to listen to ANOTHER iCloud album, will I have to manually delete something to make room or will it delete some other iCloud tracks automatically?

It seems that iTunes Match can help with the issue of multiple iTunes accounts when it comes to music. I had a previous iTunes account that I stopped using a long time back, but I had purchased a few albums with it. I kept track of the password, so I could still authorize my devices and it wasn't a big deal, but now, all but 1 of those tracks matched when I setup iTunes Match, and when I redownload, they are of course DRM free and show my current iTunes account instead of the old one! Very nice to know.

As other have mentioned yes. However, I believe that the accounts need to be authorized from the device you are using when matching.

try reading the thread and the main story on this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Another interesting thing: if you delete matched items and download from the iCloud version, you can "Get Album Artwork" on the songs vs. not being able to if they weren't purchased through iTunes.

Basically they become fully, iTunes "official" files in all ways. :)

icloud status

dont know if this has been answered but what does it mean when the status says "waiting"?? does it mean it's just waiting to be uploaded??

And also is there anyways to just pick which songs I want to upload?? because it's saying it's going to upload over 1600 songs and and that's going to take me forever

So does anyone know why Apple decided to do it this way? Why would anyone wanting to stream their music also want to download it onto their devices? It really makes no sense to me. So, every time I think I want to hear some obscure song in my library, I can listen to it, but then I have to delete it so i don't fill up my device!?#@%$ Ugh. What is the point?

Streaming is wasteful as you need to redownload it every time, and fails when there is low of spotty coverage. iTunes Match is not, and has not been marketed as, a streaming service. If you strongly prefer streaming over downloading and playing while it is downloading then there are multiple services which would be happy to take your money.
