A clue for iPhone 5 battery issues?

This evening there are three of us in the home. One iPhone 4S, two iPhone 4's. All are running iOS 5.0.1.

They're pretty much just sitting in our pockets this evening..

I just happened to look at our router log shortly after it was rebooted. Our SSID is "not2securen". Check out the repetitive WiFi hookups and disconnects for the iPhone 4S (in bold).

If this is typical behavior, could it be a reason people are complaining about battery life? The other devices on our WiFi network are not doing anything of the sort.

Certainly; and I did so. I used this forum for boldfacing etc., to ensure readability. Plus I hope others might check their router logs for similar behavior, and chime in.

It's interesting to me that the issue seems to affect only the iPhone 4S and not the two iPhone 4 handsets.

The evidence is suggesting that at least some iPhone 4S handsets are not playing nice on WiFi networks and may be contributing to spontaneous router reboots, etc.

UPDATE: a review of my router logs from this morning shows similar behavior from one of our iPhone 4 handsets. So it's not limited to the 4S.

Here's my logs from an Extreme, the interesting thing is that the iPhone 4S is the only one generating these errors. There are 2 other iPads and some other wireless devices accessing wifi fine while the iPhone is generating these errors.

I'm sure the likelihood of Apple already seeing something like this is quite high. Many users greatly underestimate the skill of Apples engineering group.

This is identical behavior that I saw with my two D-Link routers.

It's sort of a slam-dunk indictment of the phone's (or iOS 5's) WiFi behavior. It can't be good for battery life, and my spontaneously-rebooting routers suggests it ain't so great for the router either, or for the internet experience of anyone else on the same WiFi network.

I suspect something similar might be happening with 3G as well. I just don't have such concrete, inexorable evidence as we now have regarding the phone's misbehavior on WiFi.
