I spoke to a more senior person about an issue with my Apple ID not accepting a @me email address as the primary one for the account. This is an issue anyone will have if the had an Apple ID on a third party email, created an iCloud account, and want to use a new @me email address with it.

Yes, both email addresses will work for logging in to anything and everything. No, you will not be able to set the @me address to the primary one however. Apparently, MobileMe is not actually dead (iCloud is just a rebranding of the same ****** product). The "system" is incapable of taking an older Apple ID and reconfiguring it around a @me address because that @me address is MobileMe.

Most importantly, Apple "does not believe this to be a problem", which is on the awful scale is an 8 and Apple's ineptitude with Apple ID's is embarrassing and will just become a bigger problem as people consider making iCloud accounts on five year old Apple ID's that have been used for iTunes.

Pathetic.

P.S. I don't know if this had been cleared up already but I want to make sure to destroy anyone's remaining hope for a simple solution. Of course, you can always just make a new one and buy all your **** again. Apple wouldn't 'consider that to be a problem'.
