a couple dumb questions

so im really new at this mac thing and i have a couple questions. i have downloaded neooffice as my word processor. how do i make the icon stay on the desktop bar at the bottom? i want to just be able to click and go, but everytime i start my computer it goes away and i have to open it through the hardrive. well...i cant think of my other question right now. i guess one is enough.

Launch the program and right click the dock icon.
Choose "Stay in dock", or something like that...

You can do that, or you can simply drag the icon to another location within the dock and it will stay.

By the way, def. have a look at the System Preferences for your mouse/trackpad. They are helpful.
