I need to get a new cpu and fast....But im having huge difficulty in making the decision.
Its between the 4gb Macbook Pro vs the mac pro.
I understand that the mac pro is a killer of a machine.... but is it really necessary for using after effects, motion and protools...???.
Will the macbook pro run well with after effects on it?????
I would like the portability of a laptop but need the power of the pro.

what to do??? what to do??

Well, I have a mac pro, and I'd imagine that it's not all that much faster than a macbook pro, but it does have an entirely seperate processor, and a good amount of video conversion software can hit up to 380% processor usage. Also, motion is one of the few things out there that uses the GPU, and I'm sure the mac pro with an updated gpu smokes the macbook pro...

Get any used or refurbished MacBook Pro (even back to the first, 1.83 GHz model). Get a new or used Mac Pro.
