I basically want to use a windows setup to play PC games and use some online stuff that doesn't work on mavericks, but I DON'T want windows to be my only operating system. My questions are:

Do I have to backup all of my data before going through with BCA?
Will mavericks still be there, or will windows be my only operating system?
Does the windows system work like an extra application like photoshop?

Thanks.

Bootcamp will resize your hard disk to make space for a windows partition. To use it you have to reboot and select windows. When in this mode you are effectivly using a windows computer.

You wont be able to use windows apps in osx.

Other than games, you can use parallels or vmwarefuzion and that will allow you to run windows apps in mac osx, but games henerally dont work well like this.

I use a combo of both; I reboot into windows for games, butuse vmware to access the windows installation in mac os x for some apps (the main one for me is Coreldraw).

How bigis your hard disk? How much ram do you have?
