I want to get an iPod. Right now, I'm looking at a 4th or 5th gen Classic or a Mini.

I definitely want to increase storage and get a new battery. I've heard iPod Minis may be easier to mod since they don't need an extra adapter or something. But I've also heard some adapters like iFlash may not work on the mini. In your experience, what's the easiest one to work with?

iFlash is supposedly the best adapter, but I'd rather not spend $40 on that part alone. Is there another adapter that would work reliably with 128 or 256 GB SD cards?

I'm having a hard time finding a step-by-step tutorial for doing this. iFixit does have a good tutorial for taking it apart but I'd like more specific instructions for putting the new SD card in. I'd appreciate any advice you guys have to offer.

Thanks!

I modded a 4th generation with an iFlash and it was an extremely simple procedure. As far as I know, minis are a litter harder to open and work with, but I've never tried so I can't say for sure. I haven't had any problems and the iFlash appears to be an excellent product (I'm about to buy another one). You will need an adapter to use an iFlash in a 4th generation classic but they have simple instructions for installation. I never looked in great detail, but while there are plenty of CF adapters, I haven't really seen any other (micro)SD adapters besides the iFlash.

Get a 5th gen.

Hi,
if you want a cheap mod I can recommend the 4th gen. The adapter is really cheap and works fine.

[doublepost=1543988718][/doublepost]The mod of the mini is even cheaper because just put the cf-card/adapter in. But the 4th gen is the better iPod in my opinion and easier to open. But use a plastic opening tool to avoid damage.

Regards
Torsten
