The title basically says it all.

iTunes was deleted and reinstalled, and as a result, he lost the backup file for his wife's iPhone.

He is on Windows Vista.

I'm not as familiar with Windows as I am Mac, but I figured this was a good place to go for help.

I am going to give him a link for this thread.

Thanks for your help.

Somehow they managed to restore the phone as new!

Sorry, I meant to include that!

The apps and music bought from itunes can be restored, because itunes will have records of purchase; they just have to d/l it all again.
There are no cloud backups or external backups? I suggest your friend buy a mobile me subscription, because the notes, address book, texts, etc. are gone. The mobile me is because your friend isn't willing to do the simplest of backups.

Yeah. I was going to suggest Mobile Me as well.

It looks like no one has a solution.

That sucks.

That sucks.

Why would anyone have a solution for people who:

Deleted iTunes iPhone backup?
Erased phone?

If on Mac, they can go to time machine to find their iPhone backup. They are on windows so they are most likely out of luck.
