I want to encrypt my external hard drive. After I choose a pw for it in finder, I get the error a guid partitioning scheme is required. How do I correct this? Do I have to partition the drive then add all my files to the drive?

Thank you too! What got me into trouble was when I first formatted my ext. hd was the question about "what are you going to use this drive for?" I picked the wrong option. :(
