Congrats! I got mine too!!!!! : )

unboxing is always fun.

I went for the stock config with the 2600HD or whatever. I'm ordering a quadro once I come out of the depression of realizing what this is doing to my bank account! ;)

A really complex render I did on my MBP (... <3 ... 2.33Ghz 3gb) took just under 6.5 hours.

Mac Pro .... 33s

Not even funny!!!! So happy.

hahaha, maybe when i graduate college ill buy one:rolleyes:

i like the stand idea, as i drew up diagrams of a stand for my mbp but it was made out of metal and it was way overly done.

it had a fan, ducting to cool the bottom of my mbp and to cool the two external hdd's it would have been nice if i had something to bend metal.
ill try and find the drawing (there all done to scale too, i was how you say... cracked out, i couldn't sleep and had to draw them)

i think that idea is a little bit more doable than mine.
what size mdf did you use, 1/4 in or 1/2 in

o ya,
lucky bast#rd:D

I picked up the shelve material at Home Depot. They are 5/8" thick

Bigger desk? How about refinishing that kitchen table?

Yeh, that table is a mess. It's amazing what 3 kids can do.

Oh, and thanks to everyone for the pats on the back. Well, I'm off to tweak and configure, plus I still have to install that 2G of RAM I got from OWC.

i will refinish your table for a hundred bucks or you could buy me 2 gb of ram for my mbp :D
still so jealous

hey i do not even think i would have to buy supplies im pretty sure i have all the materials (my dad is a carpenter, contractor)
i have done it before too

edit, i could paint it or (not stain but ... i dunno you use tongue oil)
if i (insert w/e its called) since i would have to sand it down to no paint, you could pay me by building one of those stands :D

wow i was joking in the beginning but now if you live in the same area its probably doable :)

Just in the few hours I had last night to play with it, I can tell you that this machine is fast. REALLY FAST! I transferred all my data off the Time Machine I was using with the MacBook. I also had a ton of stuff on a Firewire drive. It was connected the MacBook via FW400. I can now use it as FW800! FW800 is sooo fast! I moved 125 Gigs off the drive onto the Mac Pro in 32 minutes! Amazing! The mail man dropped of the OWC RAM after I had it all setup, so I'll have to install the memory tonight.

This machine is awesome. If you've been on the fence about buying one, I highly recommend saving your pennies. I eBay'd a ton of my old stuff in order to raise the funds. And I can't wait to finally use my MacBook like a laptop. I've been using it as a desktop for so long!

Thanks for looking!

Congrats man!! hehe welcome to the speed of light side :D I love looking at fresh new macs all laid out with the older macs on one nice neat table!
