Hello,

I thought I'd ask about this.

My cousin told me over 20 years ago that Microsoft conducted a study on how people use their computers. They even supposedly went to people's homes and observed them. Unfortunately, Microsoft never used the data.

Do you know anything about this? I'm not sure where or how to search for it online.

People use computer really different today than 20 years ago.

Has most young people use smartphone for web surfing and social media than desktop computer 20 years ago.

So, to be quite honest? I have the feeling that either I haven't expressed myself clearly, or you all seem to be misunderstanding something.

How should I put it? The people at Microsoft were supposedly concerned with whether users understood the GUI and how they interacted with it. Even today, people still struggle with their GUI.

Here's a little something for you: if Word is open in Windows, for example, and you drag a Word document to the taskbar icon, an error message appears. This means that someone at Microsoft thought about it, but didn't implement it.
