I want to buy a mighty mouse for my macbook. I think $49 may be too expansive at apple store.
So I want to know whether a used mouse will work identically? In fact, it will be about $20 cheaper than the new one. But there is risk such as the damage or lost during shipping.

So what's your opinion about that? Come on, give me some suggestions.

You need to look at the seller's feedback. If they have a lot of feedback and it's 98-100% positive then generally you're safe. Most sellers ship with Priority shipping and optional insurance.

If it was brand new, unboxed and at a good price, I wouldn't hesitate.

However used maight be a different story… Mighty Mice have a high failure percentage with the roller ball. It might be someone trying to palm off a "broken" one…

    Caveat Emptor as always.

There are steps to clean that roller, but (from having done it and being tech savy) they aren't for the faint heart.

i just bought a used one off of facebook, and it works great. Its just hit or miss really. Make sure you get one with trackball, I ended up getting the older one without one, still worth it, but would have been better to have the ball.

I own 3 mighty mice and none have a ball in them?

I personally, by the time you factor in risk, and shipping charges, just pony up the extra few bucks and buy a new one.

    Cheers.

The ball ontop of the mouse, not the laser side.
