It's almost the end of 2023 and I'm still looking for how I can set up my Logitech G305 on my Mac so that there are no dropouts and acceleration problems. The mouse on Mac just feels weird

But I only notice these problems when it's a wireless mouse; I'm not aware of these problems with a mouse with a cable. Does anyone know this experience?

I have a Logitech MX Ergo Advanced Trackball and an MX Keys with no Problems while connected via BT.
( still using Logitech Options on Ventura ( MBA M2 ) + Sonoma RC2 ( Intel ) because Logitech Options+ made Problems )

Have noticed only lags when connected via Logitech Receiver.... the 305 has no BT ?

No the 305 has no BT. And even with a Logitech MX Master with BT or Dogle, the acceleration doesn't feel right. Here I miss the feeling "like Windows".

Any app that could help?

Yes have a look at SteerMouse & LinearMouse there's a lot more out there as well. Search on Github for "Mouse macOS" and you'll find a lot of hits. Looks interesting MOS

Does not feel weird to me since I have never used an Apple mouse but I may not be as picky/nitpicky/very observant when it comes to mouse operation between Windows and macOS...

I stopped using Apple mice when the ADB era ended...

++ IMO, Apple has never once made a decent peripheral.

I currently use an MX Master 3, paired with SteerMouse software to customize every possible element of its behavior, from button chords to custom acceleration curves, application-specific settings, the works.

Can't recommend SteerMouse enough if you're a serious, full-time mouse user. It's dirt cheap (like $20, I think) and the developer is super responsive if you have questions. No relation, just a happy customer.

"Which Mice do you use?"

Logitech.

There are 2 options to speed up acceleration for the Mouse:

  • in the Systemsettings
  • in the Logitech Options App

Do you have Logitech G HUB installed? As you mouse is a G-series, I assume this app/driver/thing supports it. I have been using a G604 for a couple of years and have no issue with acceleration and dropouts. The mouse performs noticeable better when G HUB is running.

I have a Logitech mouse (the Lift) and it's a little too laggy in BT mode so I have to use the receiver. Annoying but not a deal breaker. What does absolutely suck is that the Logitech Options + button mapping does not work at all in any app.

I only use trackpads.
Within a few minutes of me first trying a trackpad I knew it was for me and I was never going back to a mouse.

And so it has proved to be, a decade or so on. The (wired) mouse has sat in the cupboard since that day.

The real magic happens when a trackpad is combined with a keyboard in a tray, like a MagicBridge. Much more comfortable, easy, and versatile than a mouse.

I still use Logitech Options without the + for this Reason and it works also on Sonoma now with the MX Keys and Trackball MX. I use BT and it is Laggy with the Logitech Receiver in my case.

The only thing you have to do additionally is to open the LogitechOptions APP with right click show Package Contend and add the Daemon to System Settings / Security / Control aids & Input monitoring ( i am not sure if the US Names are corect ):

Have done this on Monterey one time and stayed since.

P.S.: I used the first Trackpad parallel before and now now using the Trackpad 3 and the Trackball is off 99% of the Time......

I think if you said that Apple has never made a decent mouse then that would be a better statement.

Exactly the same here. I bought the Magic Trackpad at launch and I've barely touched a mouse on any Mac since. That was, what, back in 2010?

I meant what I said. I think Apple keyboards, mice, and trackpads are garbage. That’s only my opinion, however. There are plenty of people who like the MagicMouse, even, and more power to them. Everyone should use what they like and what allows them to be most productive.

Yup, absolutely. I love big old model-m buckling spring keyboards and never thought I'd like the total opposite apple keyboards but I actually do. I use the current model Apple keyboard (with numeric keypad) on my Macs and a model-m on my work PC. I couldn't get more polar difference between them but I'm just as productive and happy to use either.
