So the phone records steps and so does the watch. I have noticed that health kit record both but never match and are often quite different. Do you guys think double counting is occurring?

I'd be interested what your HealthKit is showing.

Just did a bit of quick maths and it looks like it works out an average between the 2 or something like that. Other thoughts would be appreciated. I may contact Apple.

From what I've read, it uses one in priority over the other, you can change the priority in the Health app. It won't double count. It's meant to work it out intelligently.
 
Ah I see. Thanks. As I said the maths pointed to something like that. Will have a look in the setting about the priority thing.
