I have a 14PM and am curious the best and easiest way I can stream Netflix from the phone to a smart TV (it has wifi and bluetooth capabilities) that is not connected to the internet. Will using my phone as a hotspot work? Bluetooth? The TV is in a weekend cabin ... no internet (by choice) but great cell service. I have an ATT Unlimited data plan that includes 15 GB hotspot data each month.

Thanks!

Without Wi-Fi you are going to struggle... To cast from Netflix you are going to need to have Wi-Fi as I don't think Hotspot will work for what you intend to do.

Why have a smart TV in a cabin with no access to the internet? Seems a bit pointless.

You can use wifi on the phone to connect to the Wi-Fi on the tv. Wifi is just a radio signal that functions between device, and internet isn’t even necessary, such as adhoc mode

I could never cast Peacock or any streaming apps to my tv. Just only YouTube not sure why ? The streaming apps only allow me to AirPlay .
I'm still a bit confused .... the TV I'm considering apparently is AirPlay capable but does it need to be connected to WiFi for it to work?

Good point. I think issue with me is that my TV isn’t airplay compatible. Did you make sure they are on the same Wi-Fi network and bands?

Eh, I have several smart TV's and don't let them connect to the internet as they're inherently insecure. Don't know if that's OP's reasoning, but yeah. YMMV I guess.

OP here .... we don't have internet at the cabin because we aren't there often enough to justify paying for it. I'm just trying to figure out a way to stream some shows to the TV using my iPhone and I don't want to buy a new TV if it isn't possible. Seems like it should be simple but ..... I did read about using a lightning to HDMI cable to mirror the phone so maybe that would work?

I'm pretty sure the problem is solved. I turned off my home internet and connected my home smart TV to the internet via a hot spot from my iPhone. I was able to use the TV's built in streaming apps to access Netflix and a host of other channels and the reception on the TV was excellent. There is no reason to use the apps on the phone.
