I made this in after effects... took about a half hour. its not 'perfect', I was just kinda 'rushing' to see the results. not too bad i must say for a rush job, lol

(no thats not me, thats my brother, lol)

im going to work on a 2 lightsaber battle later. Also going to incorporate a lightsaber battle in a star wars 'ghetto' style spoof short series im working on. :p

Hey, that looks pretty nice. Looking forward to the "battle" scene, hopefully filmed at night to capture the lightsourcing and reflections.

btw, you have one of my favorite 'tars.

I actually am filming it at night... and since the two toy lightsabers I have actually "light up", you'll be able to see the colored light glow on their face for added realism.

its funny, I did this in After Effects, yet I have a Motion 'tar :p

Nice job! Like others, I'd like to know you did it as well, I'm particularly impressed with the sound effects.

Not lame, so you're safe from becoming the next Jedi Kid! :p

another vote for showing how you did that. did you buy some lightsaber toys and then added the effect? The sound is right on as well.

Hey, that ain't bad at all! I second (third?) the guide request! The way I know involves export the clip as a sequence, and adding the lightsaber in each frame one by one in Photoshop. That takes forever (and the results aren't that great, since the light doesn't stay exactly smooth, there's a little "jittering" from the slightly different positions the "saber" takes on each frame).

Yes, please share! Not that I own, or have ever used AfterEffects, but I'm curious.
And if you've got any techniques on how to do it in Motion, I'd love to hear those too.

wow what a response, lol. I'll be sure and write something up about how I did it.

BTW, the sound effects came from the game "Jedi Academy" for mac (pc, xbox...etc), i just extracted the archived pk3 packages, and took the lightsaber sound effects from it (all in mp3 and wav). then I took the exported footage from after effects, imported to FCP, then added all the sounds there. :)
