Just watched the Youtube video. Impressive!

I dont think I have a use case, but just seeing how well it works, the standalone licensing and 'offline' functionality makes me want to buy it anyway!

I have two curiosities:

One, the voice themselves, really interested to know how they came about or the source/training required for them! Is it all procedurally generated, or are they built up from voice samplea from friends or other real humans? I'm somewhat of a layman with regard to how this is done! Any insight in this would be cool!

Secondly, (as an attempt to create a use case for myself) is there some way to integrate this software such that I could take this audio on the go?

I'm imagining something like feeding it some links of articles, or emails, or discussion posts (hackerne.ws, reddit), I want to 'read' and having it parse and perform the TTS, encode to mp3 (or whatever) and upload to icloud such that with a native interface on my iPhone I could find a folder structure of the articles/links I supplied and find my recordings on the go...

Seems like a huge 'feature request' but I see this as a big one, something a lot of folks who want to keep up with news/discussion/emails, but dont want their eyes buried in their phones while out and about!

I think something like this would sell like crazy if it was well integrated and easy to use. Perhaps a phone app that would allow you to send your computer at home the links/text/epubs whatever and later all are available in icloud. Maybe this could even be done without an app! Maybe just a special Notes entry in icloud that the Mac back home scans for and takes links from to queue up!

Just a (big) idea! 🙂
Take my money!
Appreciate it! pretty cool ideas indeed - dm me, I'd love to dive deeper!

Would love to be able to demo it. Or hear all the voices before buying. But most importantly, does it have API hooks so I can have my chatbot talk to me?

I'm iterating on the core features from the launch feedback atm, but l’ll work on some form of trial access right after that - I’ll DM you when it’s live! And yeah I'm planning to add a lightweight CLI for direct access : )

Quick update for anyone following along - a lot has shipped since I last posted : )

What's new (v1.0.1 -> 3.0.5):
  • Word limits are gone. Write as much as you want.
  • 300+ voices now, across a pretty wide range of styles
  • Clone your voice with short sample
  • Better voice discovery: search, filters, bookmarks, and tags
  • Pause tags so you can force breaks where you want them
  • Generation history with full transcripts saved for every run
  • Much deeper MLX integration, significantly faster
  • And a small mountain of bug fixes I will spare you from reading
On the roadmap:
  • PDF Read-along mode
  • More languages (de, es, fr)
  • CLI access
  • And more from future feedback

Wow big update! Was thinking about your project recently.

Really hope to get
notes -> audio file -> store in iCloud
in a future release.

Thank you catmademedoit! I like the faster voices that I've found so far: Cora and Andy. That is the speaking speed I want to challenge my students with, at least on occasion.

Thanks! and yeah I intend to look into link parsing and async reading experiences after the next big update (more languages + pdf/epub UX).

This looks really thoughtfully made. The offline and privacy-focused approach is what caught my attention the most — it’s rare to see that with apps like this.

I missed the random list, but I’d still love to try Bantr if there’s any discounted license available. No worries if not, and congrats on the launch either way 🥰

P.S. Social workers, students, and creators (w/ reach) get special deals - just shoot me a dm!
It won't let me dm you without making 3 posts first... but i'm also not supposed to make meaningless posts to get that number up, and i have nothing meaningful to say because dming you is literally the only reason i made an account. 🙃

I would love to participate in this giveaway. I’m currently developing a project that fuses spoken-word journal entries with deep hypnotic music to create immersive audio diaries.

Appreciate the interest! and thanks for sharing your use case... I wanna ask why, but I know the answer is why not.

Immersive audio diaries blend spatial sound design with personal, first-person storytelling. Often utilized in found-footage, sci-fi, and horror podcasts, and video games (Bioshock) The recordings place listeners directly into the headspace of a character using binaural recording techniques and ambient environmental sounds.

i feel like there should be another way to contact you about the discount. i've now sent 3 messages, though, so i don't need one anymore.

Yeah I guess those guardrails help keep off some lazy spammers - received and responded to your dm now!

Any future non-members reading this can contact me directly through my website instead. Although I'd recommend this is a pretty cool place to hang if you own a mac.
