Yeah to be honest I have used the TT on grandmas ipp 9.7 and it's nothing Specail, and the camera is something I don't use except for once in a blue moon to scan a document into iPad or FaceTime

Right but, I'll bet that what you where looking at on your grandmas 9.7 was content in 8-bit color. If so, the display mapped the color space to sRBG, so other than having a corrected white space for the environment, you might not notice the difference. A 10-bit image rendered in DCI-P3 would be very noticeable.

I don't know how macrumors, along with the people who blindly accepted the article didn't spot that the pictures are not of the 12.9" model. Many owners or the 12.9" model know what I'm talking about, but some how a significant portion of owners didn't see it.

Anyway, it looks like Apple may be pulling a 2012 this year and releasing 2 9.7" models in the same year. I'm guessing both Pros will be updated together though, and feature parity is expected between the 2 new models.

There is little there for Apple to simply update the 12.9" to have feature parity with the 9.7" - all it has is a P3 color gamut, TrueTone and better cameras.

Your right. I didn't study the photos but now after going back i see it.

I believe they are both 9.7" models. Left, hand size... Right, i have 22 menu options on the left on the settings page on my 12.9. The displayed model does not.

I think they're still laughing.

I hope so, because I was intentionally being a clown in my original thread too. :) I just wanted people to think about how risky it is to buy a 1st generation device before the use-cases have been discovered. Look at the regular iPad 2. It's still supported by every iOS update. It refuses to die. The iPad Pro 2 will be the "future-proof" one. Early adopters have always been shafted by Apple. The 9.7 inch Pro came out shortly after with much better screen colors. I'd have been disappointed if I bought the original Pro.

Risky ? I won't be using the camera on such a large device, and the Pro's screen is better than my retina MacBook Pro. If the Pro 2 coming out only has the updated camera + better screen, (true color, Not to mention the CPU), then this first model is just fine. And I have had no issues thus far, so what is with the shafting part ? Every year a new model comes out with updates and upgrades, so future proofing is a comment that does not apply.

There comes a point in the progress curve where advancements becomes less significant and noticeable. We're already up to the A9X chip for the iPad Pro 1. I'm sure the iPad Pro 2 will be an improvement on the the 1st one, as will the iPad pro 3 will improve on the iPP2. You can wait and wait; in the meantime, people--including myself--are creating, enjoying and earning money on their iPad Pro 1. You can't place a value on time lost.

There is nothing wrong with iPad pro 12.9. Ipp 3 is going to be more future proof than 2nd gen. The way I see it: if a person is waiting for 2nd gen when it's like 10-or more months to wait...my impression is that person can't afford it....probably a hungry student. Now, if there was a leak that indicates within 1-3 months...that is different story.

At this point in time, not really. We're at the stage where the CPU/GPU (A9X) is pretty powerful and the Pro 12.9" already has 4GB RAM.

The iPad 2 may have enjoyed great longevity but it took several years for the iPhone line-up to get there (pretty much when dual-core A5 was released). Really, the primary issue with the 12.9" at the moment is app optimization or lack thereof. Side by side multitasking definitely needs improvement, too.

That said, there are already several use-cases that benefit from the larger screen and if one's use case is among those, then not much point waiting unless there's a budget issue.

Good point, the iPP1 has enough horsepower in it that it should last a very long time in iOS land. It's going to be interesting to see what Apple decides to improve in the next model.
