Just use ones that work. You have your choice of $95 Sonnet Solo 10G to $600 Rocstor Roclink cards.

Got a Aquantia AQC107 for $89, which is the same chipset as the Sonnet Solot.

It works under Mojave, but there's a hang when the display sleeps (after about an hour or so). It may be cuz I'm still using 1GbE on a 10GbE card...

The Hackintosh community already has it working. It looks like there is a firmware upgrade available for the card that will make it compatible. Based on what I read skimming through the posts there is an upgrade that is either applied while upgrading/installing macOS or there is a Windows driver included in BootCamp that will make it compatible with macOS.
