I get this every time. On bootable USB it gets to a certain point, restarts, and fails.

On recovery mode/internet recovery it says “A required download is missing”

I need OS X Yosemite on my 2011 MacBook Pro.. What do I do?

No OS at the moment..

I'd suggest El Capitan or (better yet) 10.12 "Low" Sierra instead.
But in any case...

Here's a trick you could try.
No promises, but TRY IT and see what happens.

1. Boot up from the internal drive
2. Open the date & time preference pane
3. UNCHECK the option to set date and time automatically
4. Now, "set back" the date/time to January 1, 2018
5. Close date & time and SHUT DOWN
6. Now insert the USB flash drive, boot from it, and try again.

Please let us know if this makes a difference or not.

I used Firewire 800 and cloned my 2010 HS Mac Mini to it. I wouldn't have been able to boot from the internal though because it didn't have an operating system.
