If you paid for it on a credit card, you might want to check and see if they offer a buyer protection program. AMEX, MasterCard and Visa, I believe, will all replace purchases that are lost or stolen within 90 days of purchase. You usually need to file a police report to offer as proof. I've done it in the past with small things that were broken, but never with anything as expensive as an iPhone. Worth a shot!
