Check this out. A few days ago a user on these forums started the following post claiming his father dropped his iPhone and trying to figure out a way to get Apple to pay for it by saying the unit had overheated causing the cracking:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/463250/

Now today, Engadget posts this, with pictures:

Essentially, the kid melted the back of the iPhone and posted the pictures on this forum to garner sympathy:

That is really sad what a poor excuse for a person. I guess he's getting a new one though according to some other forum he posts in (that someone provided a link to). Ah well, another display of how dishonesty pays off. I wish I could lie like that!

I really don't care for people like this. If you broke it, it's your fault. Not Apple's. Why in the hell should they pay for something you messed up? That would be like me throwing a brick at my computer display and calling the company saying "I just plugged it into my cpu and it exploded! Nevermind the bits of red concrete in the hole, just replace it..."
This really irks me. Dishonesty is ruining society. And yes, I know it goes way deeper than one person, but still. Just because I have some tattoos on my arms and back, I get followed around when I'm in a department store doing some shopping. I guess I look like a thief.

I just hope that someone at Apple catches wind and can intercept his return and stop it.

Perhaps look at fraud charges while they are at it. :)

All this after everyone advised him on his first thread not to bother trying. I thought it was a dead issue...

DumbA$$

The poor kid is going to see an onslaught now. It's been posted just about everywhere.
