Check this out. A few days ago a user on these forums started the following post claiming his father dropped his iPhone and trying to figure out a way to get Apple to pay for it by saying the unit had overheated causing the cracking:

Essentially, the kid melted the back of the iPhone and posted the pictures on this forum to garner sympathy:
