According to their website:
Announcement:
We're very sorry. Basically, the company that once developed DeskBrowse, SGS International, has fallen apart. The developers have decided to move on and go in their own direction, which has left DeskBrowse without a team of people to maintain it. We ask the open source community to come forward, if you have Cocoa programming experience, please email me at sipefree at eircom dot net.

Doesn't sound like this thing is ever going to have a fully established dev team again, so be weary of its progress. I myself am waiting for the final version of Shiira 2.0.

edit:
I tried it, wth is with it sticking to the side of the screen? Very feature limited as well. It's nice and shiny, but that's about it.

It's certainly interesting. I downloaded the source code and built it.

By default, it slides out from the left side of the desktop. Having the URL field toward the bottom is unusual and not having a title bar is even more unusual.

I wonder if the thinking was behind the browser was also behind the team breakup.

They are students, I think they ran out of free time. The one keeping he deskbrowse site running writes that "other responibilities and complete boredom" got in the way.

Yes, of course, but what's the real story behind the collapse? :D I've seen announcements for years that have nothing to do with reality.

I might do some messing to see why they've chosen to glue it to the side of the display and put things in a more conventional place. Of course, by that time, it won't look much like their browser any more. Shiira is a better bet anyway and looks to have Safari beat handily with version 2.0.
