You get your good machines and your bad machines. Apple is no different (although Apple's quality I think post Intel-switch has gone down a bit).

17" MacBook Pro Core Duo, bought in February of 2007. August 8th the Firewire port went dead along with it being screamin' hot and some issues with how the casing was put together (mouse button not level, keyboard not level, etc. Called AppleCare and had the machine sent in for repair.

Machine came back with firewire port working, and keyboard/mouse button looking OK, but when you'd close the case and apply any pressure (like the pressure a machine has when you put it in a case) it would wake from sleep. It would also randomly shut down at random times. Back to Depot...

Comes back, and it's hotter than it was when it went in - blister on my finger to prove it. IT also now struggles to eject discs from drive. THe case above the drive is now "bulging" and isnt' sitting flush. Back to Depot...

Back again. THe note in the box said they coudlnt' reproduce. Reproduce? The bulge is there. Took pictures, talked to rep, they said the "engineers are concerned about that". Now they want me to go to an Apple Store to replace the case AGAIN.

    I think I'm going to need a drink ;)
