Congratulations on your new Mac, It only takes a while to get used to the OS, and once you do, you will find Windows frustrating if you ever need to use it the future.

Apple do some great tutorial videos on Mac basics - I suggest you run though these - at least the Getting started ones, and then you can dip into the others when you need to.

Also there is a great community on this site where you can post your questions and hopefully get some great answers, as people have already done.

Enjoy you new MacBook Pro!

Open the programs from the Applications folder. Once open, the icons will appear in the dock, then you can right-click as above.

Yeah thats why I wasn't seeing it. I got it figured out now :p. Sometimes I open programs, eventhough I'm not clicking them. Also when I play a shooting game, sometimes I keep firing even when I'm not clicking on the pad. Why?

I was told to uncheck "one touch click," so I did. I'll see if that helps.

1. Can I use a webcam on MSN for Mac? How?

2. What are some good free games for Mac (not shockwave)? I wish they made Magic the Gathering and Soldiers of Fortune 2 Double Helix Multiplayer demo for Mac :(.

How do I use my webcam? I want to take a photo of myself with it and post it on a dating site.

They're little video tutorials that even a seasoned mac user can learn some stuff from. I picked up a few tricks there when I was new to the platform.

Also, you may want to just go hunting around in settings for some cool stuff. some stuff may be greyed out, this is normal, you just have to click the lock/unlock button (usually in the lower right) and enter your password to make changes. Likewise, you can lock out areas of settings you dont want to accidentally mess with.

A little primer which may help is:
all your programs (applications) are store in
/Applications -folder right off the root drive aka the main hard drive.

your user info is under
/Users/YourUserName/ -this is where movies, music, documents, your desktop and all those things are located.

The applications folder is chock full of cool apps that are mac specific. These are usually the reason most people like mac over windows. If you want I can find a rundown of what each application is and does.

How can I make an image smaller after I do a print screen of it? The picture I took was about 1/20th the size of my screen, but when I went to print it out, it took an entire page. On my PC I used "Infran View" to resize photos.

I sent him that link 5 days ago in another one of his "how do I" threads. So have a few others.

morgothaod, I am happy you chose a Mac, however, go to the links we are giving you and watch the videos. it will help alot. most of these questions you are asking are trivial issues that can be answered with the apple tutorials. also, your computer came with a manual, READ IT> some of these little things are in there. lastly, is there a apple store near you. if so go in and ask about one to one. it is a 1 year membership that costs $99 and you get a once weekly, one hour, individual session with a specialist that you can pick their brains about all this stuff. It sounds to me that you would greatly benefit from them.

Make sure you put on your dating site that you are posting from a Mac. You will have to beat the ladies off with a stick......

Whatever you do, DO NOT tell the ladies you don't know how to use it.

Open the image in Preview. Then go to Tools > Adjust Size.
