Maybe start with one of the dozens of introductory YouTube tutorials to get a hang of the UI and what DR can and cannot do. Then get yourself some footage, better yet, a project, to do inside DR.
PS: I watched some of them every now and then, but still end up using FCP, as it is just faster for my kind of work - travel videos and maybe a music video every now and then.

There are some pretty good videos. It will be a long process, but it's free. Another problem is versions. I'm on v. 15. Some videos deal with a particular version. Yes, the UI changes.

If people make money with it, due to their profession, it is indeed professional.
I know the thread is 3 months old, but the BM page for DaVinci has training videos (with project files) and PDF books on it.
