Hello everyone,

Is there a way, through system settings or software, to prevent a mac book pro battery from automatically charging when it is plugged in? Lately I have been using my mac book while it is plugged in most of the time and have heard it is best to keep lithium ion batteries at about half charge if they are to be stored for long times. I am looking for a way to be able to keep the battery at that 50% charge while i have the notebook plugged in.

Thanks in advance.

When it's fully charged, it automatically stops charging. But, there's no way to stop it at less than full.

You don't need to worry about the 50% charge point, unless it's not being used for long periods of time - like months.

Just use the machine as you like and try and run it off battery about once a month. Apple even has an iCal calendar you can download to remind you. (check lower down the page, on the right side: http://www.apple.com/batteries/)
