Like today I was sitting at home, woke the screen up and saw AT&T WIFI scrolling up top lol. I thought it was a nice touch. Didn't even know it did that.

Anyone else come across any other little surprises not really regularly talked about? I also love how the ringer gets quiet once it detects your face.

Not a complete surprise as I had to look it up, but after thinking Night Shift could no longer be found in the Control Center, I Googled the issue and found that you can bring up the option by 3D Touching the brightness scale, which is great because I used it all the time on my last iPhone.

Racetrack today, snell helmet, fire shroud, and polarized sunglasses.
Aaaand faceID worked fine. Wtf is this magic.

Nice, re: FaceID, but I'd rather hear more about the track 🙂 Was it an event, like an HPDE, or is this something you do professionally?

Reading about how X represents a fork, with 8 offering ux continuity as backup was a surprise.

Also, super interesting to read Ive describe the X as something that could change a lot in its behavior or function was intriguing.

Coupled w the at glasses info I feel like my X is much more likely a part of something special Apple is cooking up.

Only surprise on the phone itself was that 64gb was a mistake. I had a 128 on the 7 and all the cloud management iOS can do is not enough to use the phone.

So I am returning the X for a 256gb. I suppose I’m surprised I didn’t get the 256 in the first place.

Another small little thing, but love the bottom of the lock screen has the swipe up to unlock start a little high then slide down with the home bar slowly. Another nice touch.

Racetrack is a gas station

Yeah, except he said:

snell helmet, fire shroud

So either it was some kind of track event, or he's VERY safety conscious ... 😀

Maybe he was on a motorcycle?

Bonus content: we have Racetracks here, the gas station ... also racetracks that have open events like Sebring ... I've been to both 😎

This is my first iPhone with 3D Touch. Owned the 6 plus for 3 years. I know the feature is on but I don’t think I have yet to even experience it.

In control center for example nothing extra happens if I long press something.

Lock screen, flashlight and camera are 3d touch activated.

To activate 3D Touch options you have to hard press, not long press. Give it a try.

It's not long press it's force so you have to "press" it. (Not meaning to sound condescending.)

Totally just an amateur. Training day.
Subject matter 458 italia.

Outstanding, were you at Road Atlanta? I've run up there twice, fantastic track (I ran the first time years ago before the slight re-configuration).

3d touch isnt time based, its pressure based.

Press harder and briefer.

It must be me, I tried hard pressing the flashlight and quick and it just turns it on. Same with camera.

No worries at all, I appreciate it. I tried and couldn’t get it to function.

Just to get a basic sense of 3D Touch, try pressing hard on the various icons on your home screen. I personally love using 3D Touch for hard pressing links in safari to get a preview of the link.

I plugged my phone in to charge last night and noticed the battery icon zooms in and fills the left of the notch before shrinking back again. Small touch, but I like it.
