Why doesn't macrumors have a forum for writers under special interests? There's music, graphic design, web, video, photography, everything but writing. Is there any chance of it being added?

That would be kind of cool...I would participate.

Don't know how much others would use it, though.

I don't see how a writing section would fit in here. I don't think it is a big enough market on a tech site. Unless it goes with a book discussion. If you want to make an argument for an audio book section on the ipod maybe it would get more support.

It wouldn't fit in with the tech theme, but with so many users I'm sure it'd get used... I certainly would. To tell you the truth, I'm just looking for more places to put up my own stuff so I can get feedback and so others can hopefully enjoy it.

Tech theme could fit, mysteries, science fiction and so on. I would like to see a writing place as well. And with mac apps and word being involved, adds to the use of it.

If a writing forum is created, I wonder who will be the first to write in txt speak ...

Those things (video, etc) are:

1. Done on apple computers
2. Have an infinite variety of interesting (!) technical hardware/software issues to discuss.

I agree with you that writing matches (1) but I'm not so certain about (2).

There are forums out there that deal with the struggles of wrestling Word into submission, and the tips there also apply to Word on Mac. I don't think there's many mac-specific writing technical problems. If you want writing criticism and feedback, again, a more specialist forum might suit you better.

Interestingly, we have no DTP (desktop-publishing) forum, and that used to be a *HUGE* area for Apple.

We have a design and graphics forum where topics relating to layout and production can be discussed. Nobody calls it DTP anymore, unless they're in financial circles, wrestling with MS Office and working on PCs. ;)

liptonlover: I can't imagine we'll be adding a writing forum. As mentioned above, the special interest forums here are all entwined at a technical level with the topic of using Macs. However, if you're willing to write short reviews and interest pieces related to industry, software and gadgetry, you'll find an audience here in one of the existing forums.

We've talked about adding a writing section, but feel that an interpretive dance section should probably come first since it has more relevance to computers and technology. So keep your eyes peels for that interpretive dance forum. ;)
