Hi all,

Let's brainstorm about it. Why there is A11 Bionic in iPhone 8 where the neural engine is not needed because there is no Face ID ?

Will Apple give iPhone 8 later someday another feature that will benefit the Bionic or they just didn't wanted to produce , engineer a different chipset ?

I dont think it is for AR because we have seen the AR kit working with A10 beatifully, so it should be something with ML or Neural Engine ?

What do you guys think ?

*Conspiracy theorists are welcome 😀

Because Apple gets to charge $699 for iPhone 8.

If Apple puts in A10, they can only charge $549.

People would complain even more about the "8" being a mild refresh of the 7.

My guess? It probably cost less to use the same version of the A11 across all three devices, as opposed to developing and manufacturing the regular A11 and a neural-engine-less version.

They needed something better than ip7 to launch and because they can't deliver the ipx nearly 2 months.

Why are people complaining? People wanted the 8 to be a slower device?

I don’t think the OP was complaining. I think he/she was wondering if Apple had some enhancement in mind in the future for the 8/8+ that would take advantage of the neural engine.
