so i replaced a cpu in my mac it was working fine, but wanted a challenge and now i got one lol.
so the reballing / flowing went well, except some micro caps moved around a bit but got them to sit good again.
i plug ac in and smoke comes from underneath. Turned it around and this weird looking cap idk what type of cap it is, or even if its a cap.
at that time i noticed some micro cap mofos that came off a bit, i really gotta take more care and not tape up tings that dnt need taping up, it was shorting something probably so luckily i got a spare 1181 mobo lying around to match and compare stuff.
So replaced that
then re plugged it in, another one starts smoking.
replaced that,
then another one started smoking.
then i replaced that and no more smoke.
now when i try to turn it on fan gives off a slightest little nudge and the hard drive powers on
however the cpu / gpu / nortbridge area not even warm.
when i hold the power button again it turns off the hdd.
NOW
Questions
1. Did anyone ever experience this sort of blown caps smoking and one after another. After reball process?
im thinking since i moved my tc up away from my heating element on puhui it gets really hot underneath, i might have killed off some caps.
2. What do you guys i recommend do next. ?
i replaced the core duo with a core 2 duo.
3. Is my reballing not yet up to par?
thanks guys hope you will give me some insight.
I was going to reflow
the current setup just to make sure the balls have joined up well, im a bit skeptical i did that right.
as my first step.. and if that didnt work i was going to put back the old cpu back on and see if get any joy.
i mean i got 2 mobos i must make 1 work..... i need the practice and extra experience since got no work atm.
so im just on this atm.
getting flyers in next couple of days hopefully get some business wid them
sorry for rambling....
thanks in advance
