Ladies and Gents,

First time poster, long time lurker. I've had someone bring me a Macbook Pro that they tried working on. They wanted to replace the hard drive. Somehow, don't ask me, they disconnected the Airport card. When they put it back together and turned it on the smelled something and turned it off. I've heard of people doing that before and losing wifi due to damage to the logic board. You know, plugging it in backwards. This one, however, only turns on when the isight/airport cable is disconnected from the logic board. When that's done it works fine. The thing they care about most is that camera.

Do you think this is a damaged cable / isight or that the issue with it not turning on is the logic boardor both? I ask because I hate doing more work than I have to do. If it's both, it seems to me that this is going to be more trouble that it's worth. Thanks in advance!

You opened up the machine? Great guides for this kind of stuff on iFixit.com.

This sites does have a very small, but existent all the same, female user base. Perhaps ladies and gents? :)

Sorry

Ladies and Gents - my mistake. Thanks for the tip on ifixit. It's not so much not knowing how, as not knowing which place would be the best to start.

It was plugged in backwards and started. I've never done this so I'm unsure if I should look toward the logic board or the isight / cable. Any thoughts?
