i picked up a few 21.5" 2010 iMacs at a university sale, and one of the machines was discounted, and listed as a "parts" machine. This particular unit is an A1311 EMC2379, while the other three units are EMC2389.

The 2389s are as spec'd: 21.5" i3 3.06ghz 4gb ram and 1tb magnetic drives. The 2389 has a 3.2ghz, and the rest if the specs are the same.

I can't find any information on the EMC2379 anywhere. Any ideas?

A 3.06GHz 21" late 2009 model was EMC2308 with the model number A1311. Sometimes special order with special requirements for schools were put together, such as no ethernet etc., so it may be a restricted model.

Sounds like mislabeling. Where are you reading 2379? The 2010 iMac was only EMC 2389.

I'm trying to figure out what's different about it. It seems to have everything the 2389s have, although with a faster CPU and better video card.
Thank you for the photo and I stand corrected. Clearly, nambuccaheadsau is correct and it must be a restricted model.

Then the specs are probably identical to the others. Not sure why the EMC is different, could have been part of a special order or batch as mentioned above.
I think we're supposed to blame Russian hackers or something...
