Help!

I changed the magsafe port in my mac last nite.

Now one row of keys in keyboard stopped working. :(

thing is the mac is near mint condition.

the 5, T, G, B keys no longer work.
EDIT: FN key not working too, maybe other but will find out as use machine more.

my password has two 5s in it so cannot even login without external keyboard.

Can get new keyboard from ebay but. they not screwed in they glued in I read on ifixit.

I cannot afford a new machine and this one if near mint the case not turning yellow yet.
And rubber base not peeled.

How hard is it to replace keyboard?
Anyone done it?

had look on youtube.

some have done it but they say about very brittle lugs.

your vid a 15", mine is an old 2009/2010 13.3" unibody.

I'm no stranger to stripping laptops/tablets etc but some sites say the keyboard glued in on have plastic lugs melted on top to prevent removal.

Think gonna have to pay the £40 for keyboard and just go for it.
It is my work machine.
using bluetooth keyboard at moment, poor quality 3rd party mac keyboard.

does job but feels crap.

Did you replace the magsafe port the "proper" way by removing the logicboard ?

If so try reseating the keyboard ribbon connection - I seem to remember the first time I did that some of the keys did not work

Just a thought !

I did remove logic board.

reseated cable 3 time so far.

But going take it apart again weekend logic board out and try again.

nothing to loose at this point.

I did retry but still some keys not working.

new keyboard and fitting is £75 total.

So will do that at some point.
