Since they did not compare A15 directly to A14 but used the phrase "vs the competition", should we take that as "A15 isn't really that much faster than A14"?

I think it's the first time Apple did something like this.

I feel it is a a14 fine tuning and could imagine the focus has been more on mastering and improving existing technology for bigger Mac socs versions, than introducing complete new cores this year.

Nothing to worry about, it’s going to destroy everything in its path again, 😎

It's not something I worry about but this is the first year Apple did not give us at least a 20-30% speed increase over the previous generation.

Got a feeling you’re going to be a very very happy man, once the geekbench scores show up. 😎

Probably more or less same CPU performance, better GPU with the extra core but probably more polished because they did talk about efficiency so I would guess same performance with a lot less battery. Nothing to worry about the A13 was already basically overkill.

Going with

1800-2000 single core 🤯

4800-5000 multi core 🤯

If i remember correctly from the event , the A15 in the regular iphones has a 4 core GPU, but in the Pro models, the A15 has a 5 core GPU. This is the first time on iphones that this has happened. Basically games/ graphically intense apps will run better on the Pro models

Here he is, just in time for iPhone 13 preorder week 😅😁😂 did you buy the flip?

The let slip in the iPad Mini introduction that the chip was 40% faster in CPU and 80% faster in GPU. than the previous model (A12). Last year I did some calculations and worked out that the A14 was ~40% faster in CPU and 30% faster in GPU from the A12 so I think there is basically no CPU improvement over the A14 and a 30-40% GPU improvement over the A14. This is likely why Apple only compared to competitors (which they also said lagged they A13 chip performance still).

I'm sure the extra Cache, ISP and ML cores will help make the A15 feel faster than the A14, but I think there has not been much improvement in CPU power.

There is only so much they can put with 5nm. The A14 seems to throttle a lot and dims the screen in some of the games that I play. I was wondering if they have a proper cooling solution like a vapour chamber with heat pipe for the Iphone 13 series.

15 billion vs 11.8 billion transistors. There’s definitely a significant boost in power.

The thing that kinda scares me is the issue they had with overheating on the A15 so they had to throttle the power. I believe that's what also led them to using 5 cores.

I figured they may have deliberately pulled back on their processor development since they already have a 2-3 year lead on all the competition. It doesn't make sense to invest a lot of money making every iPhone 50% faster than the last one when it's already 2x as fast as the competition.

I really don't care about it on the iPhone front. A14 on my 12 Pro is faster than I'll ever need. But the fact that we didn't get any CPU performance boost with A15 may mean that the new Macs built on A15 architecture won't have any faster single core performance than M1 either. But maybe it has nothing to do with the architecture but with cooling so it won't affect the upcoming Macs.

may be new lpddr5 helps a little? it's more power effective first of all, i think.

No couldnt bring myself to do it. Just want Apple to introduce their version ASAP and get on with it. So what you gonna do LFC, stick with your 12 PM or get the 13 PM? Its a beast thatd for sure. The Pros are on a different level now.
Good move, people over here are already having problems with their flips, popping noises when pressing the screen, screen movement, 3 hours battery life.

That was the plan, then I saw that Sierra blue bad boy 😅💙😂🤦‍♂️ went from not wanting to upgrade to already having my 13 pro max case being shipped. 😂

I'm also waiting on apple to release a 8" foldable, can't be long now, maybe 3 years away. 🤔😂
