Hello All,

I have had my Mac Mini for maybe 2 years now and I have searched google for the answer to this question several times with no answer yet. So I have like 114gigs devoted to all my apps it states, however if you count it all up on the right hand side of what each app's storage space I only count maybe a third of the 114 gigs. To be honest I did not like use a calculator but if you took ever app I have and added their storage space it might be pushing 30 gigs but unlikely. So i beg someone to tell me what I am missing here as this mystery has gone on long enough. I inserted an image of the beginning of where my apps storage is displayed.

I’ve always found that count to be fairly accurate. The other option is to open Finder. Right click on the Applications folder and choose get info. That will also give you the file size of the Applications folder.

Ok when I get home later I am going to attempt to copy and paste my apps along with storage space to show you full picture.

Thanks

This is bit more complicated.
This screen counts also files associated with the application located in in (hidden) Library folder, such as configuration files, temporary files, backups, and some data files (like Mail.app). I have one application, which by itself has only 154MB. But, it backups its data into a folder on daily basis and leaves 100MB data files there - forever. At this moment the backup folder of this application is 4.7GB and this screen shows size of this application as 4.9GB. For 154MB application! These backup files are the rest - and these are in hidden folder "Library".
Due to this, my Applications folder is much smaller than what this screen reports.

1. Open the icon for the internal drive so that you're at "the root level"
2. Click ONE time on the Applications folder to select it.
3. Type "command-i" to bring up get info
4. What does "size" say? (may take a while to calculate)
