So the competing note 4 will either have 3gb(like the note 3) or even have 4gb of ram(which would make sense if it launches with 64bit). But the iphone 6 will be something special with 1gb of ram, seriously apple?

What's more the 3 digits after the dash help signify speed with the A7 looking like -NTM and the A8 looking like - NTH. A "T" in the second digit means LPDDR3-1600 and a "U" means LPDDR3-1866 so it looks like Apple is sticking with LPDDR3-1600. It would be very strange for Apple to forgo any memory bandwidth increase between generations so maybe there is something else going on. Maybe they are putting in a whole bunch more L3 cache.

1GB is quite enough for a phone. But I really, really do hope there will be at least 2GB on the iPad.

I wonder if there will be a 16GB Flash, 1GB RAM, non-sapphire glass 4.7" low end iPhone and then 64/128GB Flash. 2GB RAM, sapphire glass 4.7" higher end iPhones?
I'll be very disappointed if the 5.5" iPhones have higher end specs than the higher end 4.7" iPhones.

Yeah this is disappointing, maybe they are saving high end specs for the 5.5"

I can't hear that anymore..... Why on earth would only the 5.5'' get high end specs? You do realize that Apple's current flagship phone is 4''?
Apple isn't stupid - the 4.7'' and the 5.5'' will have high end specs.

The iPhone will choke on apps but hey... what other phone out there can double as a salad dicer and windshield ice scraper?

Go Apple!

1 GB? Really?

I'm not paying one dollar for a phone that has 1 GB personally.

I doubt this rumor. Apple takes care is its customers. No way Apple would be that cheap and stingy. No way.

1GB and supposed to be in a constant link with the iWatch?

nonsense.

I'm willing to bet money on 2 or 4GB

Man, I can't wait to get a 16GB iPhone 6 with 1GB of RAM!

Well this isn't the worst news as I am perfectly fine with the 1GB of RAM on my 5s, my only concern is that they will keep the iPad at 1GB, that will be a travesty.

Can someone explain to me why this is so bad? iOS runs flawlessly, and has been this way for all three iPhones that I've had. Why does the iPhone need more RAM if the os is perfectly optimized for 1GB?

I think the correct line is "640kB ought to be enough for anybody".

I'll wait for some more analysis on this one. Doesn't seem to make logical sense to leap nearly 2 years ahead of the competition with a 64bit chip, then go back in time by keeping 1GB of ram.

Granted, iOS is the best optimised OS out there, but I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt.

Personally the amount of RAM my phone has is just a number. I actually think its a testament to Apples engineering prowess that they can get such amazing results from just 1 GB of RAM. And I appreciate them doing whatever they can to keep costs down.

Because it's not forward thinking (the tag line for the iPhone 5s by the way). The whole point is that the phone runs CURRENT software fine, but it will be limited at a hardware level to stay at current abilities. Add more RAM and you give developers (both 3rd party and Apple engineers) a lot more room to make more advanced, more powerful applications.

It feels like it's throwing away the future to make a quick buck in the present.
