So it only took a high profile, professional script writer 2 years to take a story that was mostly already written by a professional novelist and turn it into a movie script huh? Impressive.

I realize that turning a novel into a movie script is not exactly simple, but given the fact that Hollywood has been on this model of filmmaking for decades now, I'm not convinced that the 2 years Sorkin took to write this will actually prove to be worth it in the end.

Newsroom is a good example of Sorkin's ability to take a boring concept, make it exciting for a stretch of time and then gradually return it to the boring concept it once was when he gets tired of the subject. It will be interesting to see how Sorkin's overly dramatic, "His Girl Friday" paced diatribes will translate to Steve Jobs' character, who seemed to have a much slower paced conciseness based on everything else we've ever seen from him from Keynotes and previous biopics.

Please.

He can submit a blank sheet of paper as his screenplay. As long as they don't cast Aston Kutcher, it will be a monstrous improvement over the last one.

at this point in his career, Aaron Sorkin generally gets full creative control. even with Newsroom, he has basically been green lit for a season 3, without even having written a single episode.

Well if this screenplay is as accurate as The Social Network, then the original iPhone was working perfectly at the first demonstration without fear of failure, Jobs created Pixar completely by himself, and had the patience, understanding, and sympathy of a Buddhist monk. Sorkin is a great writer, but not an accurate writer. No one should watch this thinking they are going to see what it was actually like at product launches.

Hollywood (non-fiction) movies are dramatic, or even over-dramatic, representations of the events they try to depict? No...that simply can't be! /s

Ah but did Lincoln influence the rest of the world. ;)

Seriously? His actions had a direct impact in the slave trade (which was global).

It could be argued that without Lincoln's ideology Steve may not have existed (I believe he was bi-racial), as the idea that non-whites are inferior would have had a larger impact in history.

A movie called "Confederate States of America" illustrates (and pokes fun at) the consequences of the U.S.'s loss to the Confederacy and it's impact. At the very least, an entertaining (if a bit unsettling) watch.

Who's rumored to play Jobs? Noah Wylie did a bang up job in Pirates of Silicon Valley; It'd be cool if they picked him again.

Hey guess what? ALL BIOPICS ARE MADE SO THAT SOMEONE CAN MAKE MONEY! You vote with your wallet.

Welcome to capitalism.

is there enough real interest in a jobs movie that there wouldnt be any need to mix up factual things to make it more exciting?

would think the window has closed somewhat
